The writing process
In order to write my "I am Me" poem found at the bottom of this page I had to jump two feet into the writing process. Below is a brief summary of what the Writing Process entails for future reference:
I am me
I am from Lacombe and Lethbridge
From a love for language and a passion for teaching
From new experiences creating anxious stomach aches
I am on a journey just beginning and asking, “What’s next?”
I am from a stern yet kind Grandfather
And a Grandmother reliving her youth
From grandparents known through photographs
And stories and memories shared with shaky voices
I am from a past.
I am from a bumpy gravel road
From dust coated cars, farm trucks and swing sets
From tractors and combines and cows constant mooing
From deer and moose footprints alongside the imprints left by quad tires
I am from a home.
I am from a small Dutch family
With secrets shared in their native tongue
From my parents, the youngest, a sister a daughter and an aunt
I am from trips to the Rocky Mountains and a crowded back seat
I am from a family.
I am on a journey filled with unknowns, obstacles and success
From my past, my home and my family… I am me.
From a love for language and a passion for teaching
From new experiences creating anxious stomach aches
I am on a journey just beginning and asking, “What’s next?”
I am from a stern yet kind Grandfather
And a Grandmother reliving her youth
From grandparents known through photographs
And stories and memories shared with shaky voices
I am from a past.
I am from a bumpy gravel road

I am from a home.
I am from a small Dutch family

I am from a family.
I am on a journey filled with unknowns, obstacles and success
From my past, my home and my family… I am me.
