KSA #16 Teachers are able to communicate a personal vision of their own teaching.
My Teaching Philosophy
“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.” –Albert Einstein
I believe…Positive relationships form the framework of a positive classroom. In order for a positive learning environment to be achieved, students must have relationships with their peers as well as with their teacher. If a student feels comfortable in his or her classroom, he or she may feel encouraged to ask questions or share an opinion with the class. Relationships must be built on a foundation of mutual respect for one another and this respect must be established on day one and be continuously encouraged and enforced throughout the school year.
I believe…Teachers must continually consider new teaching techniques in order to incorporate a variety of different learning styles. Because student's learning styles vary, teachers must be willing to learn and implement different techniques to allow all students to be successful. It is important to continually discover and incorporate new teaching strategies within a classroom as this simultaneously encourages continuous learning for both teachers and students.
I believe…Self-directed learning is essential for students to engage in a life-long learning process. In order for students to obtain success they must engage in self-directed learning. When students recognize their responsibility for their own learning, they become more inspired and invested in their own learning. In order for this to be achieved critical thinking skills must be developed and self-evaluation must be a common practice in the classroom.
I believe…All students have the right to a safe and caring environment. Students must feel safe in school. More specifically, students must feel they have the ability to discuss their feelings, share personal information and not be judged or condemned while doing so. Teachers must always figuratively be in their student’s corner and as a result students should feel protected and safe.
I believe…All students have the right to learn and develop and achieve their goals. Every single student in every single classroom has a right to learn. It is the teacher’s role to aid all students’ learning. No student should be left behind and student’s goals should be incorporated into learning and should not be discouraged. Teachers should always be encouraging students to work toward their goals while incorporating learning.
