The following is a learning plan I created in order to demonstrate the effective use of Internet Search techniques that could be incorporated into a future lesson that I may teach:
Communication Technology Assignment
Title of Activity: Learning the Order of the Alphabet
Subject Area: English Language Arts
Grade Level: Kindergarten
General Learning Outcomes:
1) Connect oral language with print and pictures
2) Recite the letters of the alphabet in order
3) Connect letters with sounds in words
Specific Learning Outcome:
1) List the letters of the alphabet
2) Organize the letters of the alphabet in chronological order
3) Recognize the use of letters to create a word

Learning Activity: Students will be able to use this website in order to practice the order of the alphabet. (http://e-learningforkids.org/language-arts/lesson/learning-letters) Students each go through the lesson independently. After every student is finished the lesson they can practice what they have learned on the following website in pairs: (http://www.primarygames.com/langarts/tugboatalphabet/)
ICT Outcomes:
F.3.1.1 demonstrate courtesy and follow classroom procedure when making appropriate use of computer technologies
F.3.1.2 work collaboratively to share limited resources
C.7.1.3 draw conclusions from organized information
Technological Enhancement of Lesson: Both activities allow students to work at their own pace. Students have the ability to repeat activities throughout the lesson as well as repeat instruction, allowing students to fully understand before moving on to the next step of the lesson. The second activity is a fun interactive game that students could play in partners in order to share what they learned with another person and help each other if there is any uncertainty. Both activities encourage self-directed learning.
Appendix: The first searching technique I used was Dogpile. This was helpful to my search because it incorporated results from a variety of search engines which broadened my search. Here I was able to find the E-learning lessons. I then searched on Google. At first I only typed in a few words and there were way too many results to pick from. I narrowed down my search with specific keywords such as “alphabet” “interactive” “grade one” “English Language Arts”, this allowed me to search through a concise list of appropriate topics to choose from. This allowed me to specifically look for games to enhance the lesson learned on E-learn website.
